Wilderness Medicine Immersion

4th year medical students at the University of Virginia School of Medicine are put through a rigorous 3-day Wilderness Medicine Immersion training program in the Shenandoah National Park.

This intensive course introduces students to the epidemiology, pathophysiology and clinical practice of Wilderness Medicine: the care of patients in austere environments lacking typical health care resources, often under harsh conditions.
